Torsion of the testicle

  • 2020-01-13

Testicular torsion occurs between young people from 12 and 18 years old. But it can also happen at any age, even before birth.
Testicular torsion occurs when the spermatic cord that transports blood to the scrotum twists.
Mostly, testicular torsion requires emergency surgery within 6 hours.
Because if treatment is done quickly, we can save the testicles. But if the blood flow stops for a long time, the testicle may be severely damaged, so it should be removed.
The causes of testicular torsion are:
Rotation of the testicle on the spermatic cord.
Possible genetic causes.
The testes are exposed to external factors, such as: injuries or beatings.
Rapid testicular growth during puberty.
